Present Situation of Yangon Port

The Port of Yangon which is the river port and premier port of Myanmar, lies along the Yangon river bank at the Yangon city side.

Thilawa Port

Myanmar International Terminals Thilawa (MITT) is a multi-purpose container terminal located at Thilawa near the mouth of the Yangon River. The terminal offers a comprehensive range of safe, efficient and productive services to the shipping industry 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

MITT is located just 25 kilometres from Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar and the country’s international trade portal, through which 90 percent of the nation’s maritime trade passes. The terminal is also adjacent to the Thilawa Special Economic Zone.

MITT have five berths capable of handling a wide variety of cargo. Large Vessels with deeper draft could dock at MITT compared to any city terminals. There is also a rail line right into the terminal linking MITT not only with Yangon city but also with the national rail network.

MITT provides international standard service with berthing capacity for five ocean-going vessels of up to 2,000 TEU feeder ships and conventional cargo ships of 35,000 tons deadweight. MITT facilitates container trucking service and inland shipping barges to ensure cost effective and efficient movement of cargoes. There is also a container barge service between MITT and Shwe Pyi Tha Industrial Zone.
